UNICEF INNOVATION In The District Tulungagung

UNICEF cooperation with the local government Tulungagung (East Java - Indonesia) started since 1985 ~ 2010.  Various activities have been stout made, various innovations have been tried. UNICEF cooperation program with the local government is known “Tulungagung KHPPIA Program” (Survival of the Protection of Mother and Child Development).


Some of the activities undertaken include Health, Basic Education for All (spicy), Birth Certificate, Child Protection, and PPE (Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation).

Location cooperation activities covering all districts in the early period of cooperation and focus in two selected districts in the period 2000 ~ 2005 and 2006 ~ 2010. For areas outside the district cooperation developed by the local government Tulungagung.

Of the many activities, each area has enough events to have high leverage to change the paradigm and pattern of policy implementation as compared to previous years.

Health:
  1. Immunization cold chain. By train “Juru Imunisasi” (Immunizations Interpreters) Tulungagung district.
  2. Improved access by the public latrines. Self-help communities build latrines with assistance from UNICEF.
  3. Maternal and Child Health. Covers Maternity (3T=Tiga Terlambat=three late), Improved Ability of Midwives, Completeness equipment / Midwife Kit etc.).
  4. Combating HIV / Aids. Through a Peer Educator and condom campaigns.
  5. Bird Flu Prevention with extension ranging from Tk. District, Keca, atan, Village, RW, RT up to Household. The emphasis of prevention carried out on animals and cages, as well as suggestions for “pengandangan” (caging) for Poultry. Awareness Campaign also held in the junior and senior hig school. Education especially Primary School (Level Meeting on Avian Influenza Branch Department for Primary teachers to take an agreement signed FB on learning Curriculum in Primary Schools). Competition Bird Flu mockups for junior and senior high school students.
  6. Improved nutritional status of the community (local legislation on iodized salt)

Spicy:
  1. School-based Management (SBM) by stressing 3 Pillars of Education.
  2. ECD (Early Childhood Education)

Birth Certificate:
  1. Free birth registration (certificate) with the support of Dana APBD II.
  2. Simplification of the maintenance procedures and Pick's birth certificate ball by Civil Officers in cooperation with village midwives.

Child Protection:
  1. Halfway house for Gepeng (vagrants and beggars)
  2. The establishment of the Board of Child
  3. Combating Violence against Women and Children

PPE (planning, monitoring and evaluation)
  1. ASIA (Situation Analysis of Maternal and Child) as the basis for planning activities KHPPIA program next year.
  2. Health Budget analysis is used to formulate the needs of the District Health Budget, especially for Maternal and Child Health.

And much more innovative activities that have been undertaken during the period.  For detail cooperation will be described on the next occasion.
